French Singer/Songwriter Zaz Looks To Introduce ‘Gypsy Jazz’ Stateside

Ever since my first (and only) trip to Paris, I’ve always been attracted to French pop music.  There’s just something about how the French lyrics come together with the melody and the instrumentation that just sucks me in, despite my not being able to understand a lick of French.  Speaking of French music, allow me to introduce you to chart topping, diamond and platinum selling French pop/gypsy/jazz singer – Zaz!  Already an accomplished artist in her native country, Zaz is ready to take America by storm with the release of her debut album, Zaz via SonyMusic Independent Network (SIN).

Zaz (AKA Isabelle Geffroy) has one of those voices that instantly hooks you and pulls you in.  While her smokey, husky vocal style might call to mind legendary French singer Édith Piaf, Zaz is ripe for today’s music scene and a total original.  After accomplishing so much in France, Zaz is ready to bring her unique sound and hooky, playful songwriting, not to mention her combination of jazz manouche (Gypsy Jazz) and chanson Française (lyric-driven French song) Stateside.

Zaz originally released her self-titled debut in France back in 2010 on Play On Records.  The album was a #1 hit on both the French and Belgian charts and was a top 10 hit in Switzerland and Germany.  Certified Diamond in France and Platinum in Belgium, Switzerland and Poland, Zaz has accumulated quite the international fan following.  Make sure you check out the video for her album’s first single, “Je Veux
