Remember back in June when I did a lil post about the Hasselhoff sisters, Taylor & Haley AKA Bella Vida? Well, they’ve released a video for their catchy dance/pop single “Kiss Kiss Me Bang Bang” and it’s cheesy to the max. While definitely a few thousand notches above the video for their Dad, David Hasselhoff‘s “Jump In My Car,” the visual effects in the KKMBB video are low budget. Perhaps I’m looking at this the wrong way. For an indie act, I suppose the video is decent enough. I think I’m being a bit too critical, especially since it should be all about the music and “Kiss Kiss Me Bang Bang” is pretty damn catchy. Definitely too “European” to find much success here in America, but stranger things have happened I suppose.
In an interview on Urban Coco, Bella Vida list their musical influences, including Robyn, La Roux, Kid Cudi, as well as a whole slew of DJs – Deadmau5, Tiesto, Skrillex, Benny Benassi and Wolfgang Gartner, which certainly explains the electropop direction the girls are taking. Their “Euro” sound is also indicative of the fact that their family has spent so much time in Europe over the years. Bella Vida are currently in the midst of finishing their debut album, which they hope to push out by the end of the year, releasing a “few singles” between now and then. In October, the girls will get their UK promo on by embarking on a 50 city UK University Tour. In the meantime, Bella Vida have been busy promoting the single in Europe, debuting the song on BBC’s Radio 1 back in May on Scott Mills’ show. Live performances have included T-4 On The Beach, the Edinburgh Festival and more recently on Germany’s Viva TV and made their G.A.Y. debut in London on August 20th. The girls made the single available to download worldwide on August 21st, featuring a nifty little remix package with mixes by Wideboys, Kenny Hayes and Lockout.
