Backstreet’s Back…Alright? Original Lineup Hit The Studio, Prepare 20th Anniversary Celebration

    Backstreet Boys
Backstreet’s back ya’ll! All of them. All five guys from the band’s original Backstreet Boys lineup; A.J., Howie, Nick, Brian and yes…even Kevin.  If you’ll remember, Kevin Richardson left the band following the release of their fifth studio album, Never Gone, in 2006.  Following his departure, the four remaining BSB members released two albums including 2007’s Unbreakable and 2009’s This Is Us as well as a collaboration/compilation album with New Kids On The Block, NKOTBSB.  Now, just in time to celebrate the group’s 20th anniversary in April 2013, the boys have announced a return to the studio as well as some other exciting surprises.

On Friday, August 31st, the Backstreet Boys will make their first OFFICIAL appearance and performance back together again on Good Morning America‘s “Summer Concert Series” live in New York’s Central Park.  The concert is free and open to the public, but given the caliber of the performers in question, it would be wise to show up early.  Get more info on that gig HERE.

As far as what the boys will be performing, I’d imagine it would be a mix of old a new.  Speaking of new, all five guys are busy recording their new album, their eighth total (sixth as a complete group), in London with producer Martin Terefe (Mary J. Blige, Train, Jason Mraz) for an expected release sometime in the Spring of 2013.
Of being back with his boys, Richardson says, “Being back with my brothers again feels great. I love these guys. We have gone through so much together. We just have a chemistry…a bond that will always be.” Litrell adds, “Having Kevin back in the mix adds that extra special magic to our group. We’re over the moon to have him back and it’s a great way to give back to our fans.”  In addition to celebrating 20 years with a new album, the boys have also been honored with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, CA.  It’s frankly hard to believe the longevity of this group.  In a world as competitive and cutthroat as the music industry can be, 20 years is HUGE
Over the course of these past 20 years, the Backstreet Boys have sold more than 130 million albums worldwide, broke music and concert sales records all thanks to both their their talent and of course, the millions of devoted fans, to whom BSB still are pop idols extraordinaire.
