British folktronica superstar Ellie Goulding is in the midst of a full-fledged U.S. promotional tour to support her recently released sophomore album, Halcyon (Cherrytree Records/Interscope Records) released October 9th.  Yesterday (October 10th), Ellie stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to make the U.S. television debut of her STUNNING new single, “Anything Could Happen,” followed by an equally mesmerizing performance of the same song on The Today Show, this morning where Matt Lauer awkwardly danced around Goulding’s most recent U.S. success story, “Lights,” which went on to become the UK songstress’ first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, despite being released a year earlier.  While the performances were pretty uniform, the singer/songwriter took some creative liberties with the song, ad libbing at times just to keep things fresh.  Check out a video of Goulding’s performance on Jimmy Fallon BELOW.

With two U.S. television performances of  “Anything Could Happen” already under her belt, Goulding is working hard to keep the momentum going after the runaway success of her debut album, Lights, which peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200 last year.  With the slow burning success of THAT album’s final single still reverberating on the airwaves here in America, it’s going to take a helluva lot of promotion on Goulding’s part to remind people that, HEY! She has a NEW album out.  That being said, one can’t help but notice “Lights” appearing on her new record. I’m guessing that was a record label decision…

Next up for Goulding, a show tonight at Santos Party House in New York City, followed by a performance at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on October 16th, a store appearance at Amoeba Hollywood in LA October 17th.   Then it’s time to set your DVRs to catch two more TV appearances  both on October 17th – one on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and one on Conan.
Halcyon is available now (iTunes US/iTunes UK).
