Ariana Grande Teases New Zedd-Produced Single, Sophomore Album

    Ariana Grande - My Everything

Recently turned 21-year old pop star Ariana Grande just unveiled the cover art for her sophomore album, as well as a bit of information.  With her Iggy Azaela-featured “Problem” still riding high on Billboard‘s Hot 100, Grande is wasting NO time.  Grande announced yesterday, the release of My Everything, which will serve as the follow-up to last year’s Billboard 200 #1, Yours Truly.  The album is set to drop August 25th (a few days shy of Yours Truly‘s 1 year release-anniversary) via Republic Records.  In addition to using social media to talk about the new album, the Nickelodeon star was using the hashtag #4DaysUntilBreakFree (so…#3DaysUntilBreakFree today?), referencing of course the video for her Zedd-produced second single, “Break Free.” Check out a snippet she posted to her Instagram yesterday:

From the looks (and sounds) of it, “Break Free” is a total electro-pop BANGER…and that Barbarellainspired video!?! No words.  Gone is the Ariana Grande that sang so sweetly on 50s/60s love ballads like “Honeymoon Avenue” and “Tattooed Heart,” replaced with Ariana Grande, DANCE CLUB QUEEN. I have to admit, I don’t hate the change in direction.  Look out for “Break Free” when it’s scheduled to come out on July 2nd.  She’ll be performing the song live during that much hyped one day Total Request Live (TRL) revival on MTV which will air on July 2nd.

The pint-sized, big-voiced talent is working hard to show how versatile of an artist she can be and I think it’s working.  Considering that the new album is dropping almost exactly 1 year to the date Yours Truly came out, she’s been busy!  While I’m still harboring resentment towards Ariana for not releasing my favorite Yours Truly track, “Piano” as a single, I can learn to forgive.

In addition to working with producers Harmony Samuels and Babyface (both of whom she worked with on album #1), Grande managed to rack up an impressive list of collaborators for My Everything including ZeddRyan Tedder, Savan Kotecha, Benny Blanco, Key Wane and Max Martin, which definitely points at a decidedly more uptempo, dance-pop direction, no?.  Not shocking I guess. We’ve all heard “Problem” by now, right? Check out the “Problem” video BELOW:
