David Archuleta Unveils Single Artwork, Releases ‘Something ‘Bout Love’ July 20th

I don’t know whether to LOVE or HATE our boy ‘Archie.’ On his season of American Idol, I didn’t really like David Cook’s genre of music but thought he was super talented. David Archuleta was talented too…but his music was kind of bland. The new Archuleta single, “Something ‘Bout Love” comes out digitally July 20th on Jive Records and I’m on the fence about the song. Written by Archie and the writing pair S*A*M and Sluggo (the duo behind Metro Station’sShake It“), it doesn’t really do ANYTHING for me. It’s a fine, average pop song but there’s no WOW factor. Let’s be honest though, “Crush” wasn’t anything brilliant either yet it managed to climb to the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. I guess if Archuleta is happy releasing SAFE pop music time and time again, then so be it. I, for one am getting a little bored.

This song is awesome! Bland I dont think so! Sounds like another hit to me!!!! This is the first review I have seen that isnt really positive and just smitten with the song! Killer vocals and a great dance song! Cant wait to hear his new album! Congrates to Archie for singing at the Capitol 4th. What an honor! I guess some people see your talent:)

    • Clearly a passionate David Archuleta fan. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. This is mine. Thanks for reading!

not the biggest archuleta fan, but i think he is mad talented. but this song jams… he has come out swinging, and this track is going to snatch a few wigs off some of the pretend singers and fake pop stars out there. this beat and his vocals are s i c k. r u listening to this song, i mean really listening… 1st off, it is much better sung and produced than a lot of dreck that passes for pop

    • I mean maybe you're a little right about being stuck in the past. I agree that he has talent. This was just my first impression. Sometimes songs take time to grow on you. First impression…I wasn't blown away. It might take time. If that's the case then I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. Right now though, I'm not loving it.

listen to this version on his web site – it's the best i've heard. the synthesizers are bumping, but archuleta's got the chops going on to make all the elements work. he has some vocal effects in the track, but nothing that detracts… beauty of it all is he will be able to jam this live – what pop singer outside of him and a handful can sing outside of a studio, or autotune. i'm

    • Thanks for your review Jamie. I think I know what you mean – he's capable of a lot more than a dance tune shows off. But I think it's a great choice for summer radio. Based on how much David's fans of all ages loved Zero Gravity I think this song will be really popular. I also noticed a lot of people who normally aren't David fans love this song. And I don't think there is any

    • I'm gonna be honest – of all of my post I didn't think this one would create such a discussion! 🙂 I like it! I agree with you Violet…it is a good song for summer radio. I just know that this pop music, especially David Archuleta's brand of pop is not always the easiest sell here in the U.S. It's also becoming a harder sell in the UK, where pop always seemed to do well. While I
