French Pop Singer/Songwriter JAIN Set To Release Debut Album ‘Zanaka’ October 21st

Back in June I spotlighted a French singer/songwriter by the name of JAIN, including her in a MASSIVE 4 part ‘Brilliant Pop Bits You Might Have Missed” feature. Her infectious single, “Come” hooked me in with it’s melting pot of musical influences, including African rhythms, reggae, and a smattering of soul and hip-hop all neatly polished off with some slick electronic production.
Currently in the midst of a mini bi-coastal jaunt—her first time playing here in the States by the way—JAIN is doing some promo before she drops her debut album, ZANAKA here in America on October 21st via RCA Records/Spookland/Sony Music France. With two well-received stops in Los Angeles (including a School Night show and an appearance at Hotel Cafe) already under her belt, 24 year old JAIN takes on New York next, with a show in Brooklyn last night at Rough Trade and another at Mercury Lounge in Manhattan’s live music rich Lower East Side neighborhood slated for tonight. Be sure to check out my Instagram and Snapchat for updates from the show!
“Come,” which was written by JAIN currently has more than 30 million streams worldwide and is Platinum in France and Italy, and Gold in Poland. Previously released in her home country, ZANAKA (which means “childhood” in Malagasy—a language spoken in Madagascar and mother’s native tongue) has already achieved Platinum status in France, while the imaginative video for “Come” has nearly 40 million views. No TV appearences in this part of the world YET but give JAIN time, she’s practically a seasoned pro having performed on the finale of The Voice Italy and at Victoires De La Musique (essentially, The French Grammys—for which she was nominated), Le Grand Journal, Le Petit Journal and many more across Europe. Check out her performance from Victoires De La Musique above.
While ZANAKA isn’t available until October 21st, it is up for pre-order on iTunes right now. Additionally, you can stream a brand new album track from JAIN called “Heads Up” (iTunes/Spotify), which appears alongside “Come” and 8 other tracks on ZANAKA. Listen to “Heads Up” above and check out the album artwork and full tracklisting below. I have to say, given the success fellow quirky-french pop star Christine & The Queens has had here in America, I’m optimistic about JAIN’s chances for success here. Excited to check her out tonight! Stay tuned!
