    It’s a few days after the release of Delirium, Ellie Goulding‘s highly anticipated 3rd studio album and MASSIVE world tour announcement and I’m feeling a bit sad. As a long-time fan, I have conflicted feelings about her stratospheric rise to fame here in America. I’m obviously happy for her success, but I’m also discouraged. It seems like only yesterday that I was blogging about new UK singles “Guns & Horses,” “The Writer,” “Your Song,” praying in each post for Ellie to release her music and tour here in the States. I very clearly remember emailing all of my co-workers video links to ALL of Ellie’s UK singles, revving them up with excitement until the blessed day she FINALLY announced a U.S. release for Lights and a headlining tour. Even back then, Ellie’s fanbase here in America growing faster than anticipated, as I remember her Boston show being relocated from the 500 capacity Brighton Music Hall to the 930-something capacity Paradise Rock Club.  Oh, how I long for the days of seeing Ellie play a small club, as opposed to the 5,500 capacity Theater at Madison Square Garden (where I last saw her play last year) or the nearly 19,000 capacity Madison Square Garden (where she’s playing next year). It’s bonkers to me, seeing how far Ellie has come in the 5 short years since I wrote my first blog about her.

    To celebrate the release of Delirium (out now via Cherrytree/Interscope Records) I’m giving away 3 copies. The giveaway is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada only and ends on Friday, November 13th. See below for more information on the album and the giveaway. Good luck!

    Bigger, better and braver,” Delirium is arguably Goulding’s most commercial album to date, which she describes as “an experiment,” explaining;

    “If there was a slight fog surrounding the first two albums, I think it was me not being sure exactly what I wanted to be. For every pop artist who doesn’t see themselves as terribly cool, there’s always that slight element of insecurity. If they’re just very cool, then they want to be a huge star. And if they’re a huge artist, they want to be cool. I think I had a bit of that — not really knowing how people perceived me. But I’m done with that now.”

    While I did notice a difference in sound with each subsequent Ellie Goulding record, I didn’t sense any insecurity, in fact just the opposite! I’ve always seen Ellie as a confident artist and performer—a real risk taker whose confidence grows with each album and touring cycle. Now, with this admission I have even more respect for Ellie as an artist. Delirium was written and recorded in the UK, Sweden and Los Angeles, the 28 year-old worked with the best pop music collaborators in the business, including Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), Greg Kurstin (P!nk, Lily Allen), OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder (Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson), Klas Åhlund (Robyn, Sugababes), and Guy Lawrence (1/2 of Disclosure) and long-time co-writer Jim Eliot (Foxes, Kylie Minogue). Calling the making of Delirium a joyful experience,” Goulding gushes over working with pop hitmakers Max Martin, (“funny, warm and down-to-earth”) and Greg Kurstin (a “kindred spirit” and “incredibly intuitive”). “I know myself so well now,” Goulding says in the months after completing work on Delirium. “There’s a new level of acceptance, and that comes from confidence.”

    In addition to releasing Delirium, Goulding simultaneously announced a MASSIVE world tour to support it. The Delirium World Tour kicks off April 1st 2016 in Vancouver and takes the pint-sized blond bombshell (as well as tour openers, Years & Years) all over North America before wrapping up at Madison Square Garden in New York City at the end of June. Tickets are on sale right now, so check below for a list of tour dates and visit elliegoulding.com for details. Delirium is out now via Cherrytree/Interscope Records (iTunes / Spotify). Check out the Emil Nava-directed video for first single “On My Mind” above and download/stream a brand new remix EP with fresh, club-ready re-jiggerings from MK, Jax Jones and more.
