My current DJ/Producer crush just put out a new track and it’s a BANGER if I’ve ever heard one. “T O U C H” is the latest track released by American producer/DJ/Remixer, Wes James—better known by his pseudonym, Le Youth. His signature sound is a blend of smooth 90s R&B and bangin’ house beats. Le Youth is also a master of sampling; infusing Cassie‘s “Me & U” into his 2013 single “C O O L,” TLC‘s “No Scrubs” into “Dance With Me” and most recently Brandy‘s “I Wanna Be Down” on Le Youth‘s latest single, “R E A L,” which will be released February 23rd in the U.S. (iTunes) and March 15th in the UK (iTunes). Now, hot on the heels—(ermmm…or not even, since it’s not out yet!) James offers up yet another taste of sweet house music, this time sampling Queen of Hip-Hop-Soul, Mary J. Blige‘s 2009 hit, “I Am.” Check out “T O U C H” below!

While Blige’s original track experienced it’s own success on the dance charts, peaking at No. 3 on Billboard‘s Hot Dance Club Songs chart, Le Youth‘s “T O U C H” utilizes the best part of that song’s hook—”Ain’t nobody gonna treat you better/Ain’t nobody gonna touch you.” Not sure if this song is going to be a part of an album or if it’s a stand-alone but whatever the case may be, go give it some love on Hype Machine.
Things haven’t slowed down for Toledo, OH born Wes James since he released last year’s summer anthem, “C O O L,” which propelled him into the dance music spotlight. Since then James and his alter ego Le Youth have toured the world, embarking on a headlining European tour, playing clubs big and small, including XOYO in London. His skills also put him in demand as a remixer for other artists, tackling Sam Smith‘s “Money On My Mind,” Disclosure‘s “Voices, ” The Knocks‘ “Classic,” and countless others.
While Le Youth unveiled the video for new single “R E A L” last month, just last week we were treated to a special remix video of the song, re-cut to the Tough Love remix, which is included on the remix EP—out February 23rd and March 15th in the U.S. and UK respectively. The video was shot in and around Paris and features fresh-faced model/actress/student Estelle Danilo. Check out the original video here and scope the Tough Love remix video BELOW:
