[Hot Video Alert] Dragonette – Let It Go

    Dragonette Let It Go
Earlier this month, those crazy Canadian electropop kids known as Dragonette released the accompanying video for their latest release, “Let It Go,” the title track off their upcoming third album.  If you like cute white bunnies, an army of white Fiats and plenty of spastic dancing, then you’re going to love this video!

The “Let It Go” video was directed by Drew Lightfoot, the Award-winning Canadian commercial and music video director responsible for Guster‘s “One Man Wrecking Machine,” and Kate Havnevik‘s “Unlike Me.”  Despite being set in sterile laboratory, the video is surprisingly cheerful and upbeat.  According to Dragonette‘s lead singer Martina Sorbara:

“The creeps in this video will go to great extremes to ensure you’re always happy, even if it means leaching happiness from other unsuspecting humans and condensing it into pills to feed to you. These weirdos think you need help keeping your thoughts light and your mind vacant.”

Written and produced by Dragonette (AKA Sorbara, Dan Kurtz & Joel Stouffer), “Let It Go” was released back in April, when it peaked at #37 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart.  To date, the Juno Award winning band has released two albums through Mercury Records, the last being 2009’s epic and amazing Fixin to Thrill, which peaked at #21 on Billboard‘s Dance Albums chart.  The band released their most successful single back in 2010, a collaboration with DJ/producer/songwriter Martin Solveig called “Hello,” taken from Solveig’s album Smash.  “Hello” was a Top 10 hit in Canada, France, Russia, the Netherlands and Ireland and peaked just outside the Top 10 in the UK, coming in at #13.  Here in America the song peaked at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Let It Go” is available to purchase everywhere (iTunes US/iTunes UK/iTunes Canada), including on a remix EP featuring bangin’ mixes by Laidback Luke, The Knocks and Faustix & Imanos (listen ABOVE).  Who’s ready to dance? Get to it then.
