Ella Eyre - If I Go

Hot Video Alert: Ella Eyre – If I Go

Ella Eyre - If I Go

Big congrats to UK singer/songwriter Ella Eyre who’s single, “If I Go” debuted on the Official UK Singles chart at #16 this week. Ella Eyre is one of those UK soul/pop artists like Paloma Faith or Emeli Sande with a powerful voice that grabs a hold of you at the first note and doesn’t let go until the very last note. After listening to her new single…it’s beyond my comprehension right now that she’s only 20 years old! Mind blowing and amazing at the same time (It also makes me feel very, very old). Check out the Henry Schofield-directed video below.

The video is very simple in terms of story line (ut doesn’t really seem to have much of one)…but very cool visually. The video sees Ella (along with a male dancer) standing in a white room, furniture and decor provided by IKEA (Not really but that’s totally what it looks like). Thanks to some good old-fashioned camera trickery, Ella appears to be standing on the ceiling while she sings…now she’s standing on the wall. Upside down…sideways…right-side-up…sounding flawless throughout.  While Ella might be ALL OVER THE PLACE physically speaking, vocally she’s right on point, singing the hell out of a beautiful song.

If I Go” was co-written by Ella Eyre (born Ella McMahon), Natalia Hajjara and Jarrad Rogers, who also serves as the song’s producer. The song is Ella’s first official solo single, taken from her forthcoming debut album, Deeper, out later this year on Virgin EMI . The album will be Ella’s first solo release since her debut EP (iTunes)(also called Deeper). While the first (and only) song released off the EP didn’t chart higher than #72 on the UK Singles chart, featured spots on songs by Rudimental (“Waiting All night“) and Naughty Boy (“Think About It“) helped boost her profile at home, while giving her a little buzz here in the States. “Waiting All Night,” Ella Eyre‘s collab with Rudimental, hit #1 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the singer/songwriter’s first official #1. While her Naughty Boy collaboration fizzled out at #78, being featured on a Naughty Boy album is a gateway to so many opportunities. Like Disclosure, Naughty Boy is one of those UK music tastemakers who, just by featuring you on a song can do wonders for your career.
