“War Paint,” the brand new single from talented up & comer FLETCHER has been dazzling everyone from Perez Hilton and Chloe Moretz to NYLON and my friend Megan (#ShoutOut), so obviously it was in desperate need of a complementary visual, right? Well, we’re in luck because, earlier today Billboard exclusively premiered the Garen Barsegian-directed music video for “War Paint,” and it looks good. Check it out below.
Of “War Paint,” FLETCHER tells Billboard “The song is about what putting war paint on means to you, fighting for whatever it is you believe in, and overcoming the hardships in your life, no matter how f—ed up they may be.” Definitely sounds like the makings of an anthem to me.
FLETCHER is riding a MAJOR wave of buzz right now, so it was definitely the right move to release an expensive-looking music video like “War Paint.” What the video lacks in storyline (there is none) it more than makes up for in style.
Not wasting any time at all, the “War Paint” video gets FLETCHER‘s name out there front and center in a crisp white font, as well as the name of the single (#BuyWarPaintOniTunes). Thumbs up.
The video also features some pretty sick choreography mixed in throughout—DEFINITELY a good idea, given “War Paint‘s” BIG anthemic chorus. I mean, COME ON! That chorus was practically begging for a troupe of contemporary dancers!
The clip also features plenty of FLETCHER herself, delivering fierce fashions, plenty of attitude and superstar (think Piper Perabo meets Jessica Simpson) good looks. Absolutely STUNNING. Who needs a storyline when you have FLETCHER; looking, sounding (and EMOTING) as good as she does.
There’s also plenty of production elements that make this video look super expensive, include exquisite lighting, plenty of colorful explosions and paint splatters, slick camera work and oh yeah—more FLETCHER looking absolutely radiant.
“War Paint‘ is now available to download (iTunes) and stream (Spotify) so add it to your playlists people! Be on the look out for her debut EP, Finding Fletcher, due out later this year.
