[Hot Video Alert] Kelly Clarkson – Dark Side

American Idol’s first lady of pop, Kelly Clarkson, released the video for her latest single, “Dark Side,” on May 24th to her official VEVO page.  Shot in Los Angeles at the end of April, the video was directed by Shane Drake (“Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)“) and features actors portraying several sad and depressing scenarios including unemployment, body image, war, divorce and bullying.

Clarkson looks stunning throughout the clip, rocking two different looks; the first featuring minimal makeup and a fashionably tattered red one-shoulder top, the second showcasing a more made up Clarkson’s assets in a sheer-black sleeved dress with a bold, strategically placed green and white pattern.

Written by songwriters busbee (Katy Perry, Adam Lambert) and Alexander Geringas (Kim Wilde, Sarah Connor) and produced by Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen, Sia).  “Dark Side” serves as the third official single (and one of my personal favs) from Clarkson’s fifth studio album, Stronger.  The song will be released in the UK on June 4th and serviced to U.S. Mainstream radio the next day, on June 5th.  So far, Stronger has delivered two Top 10 singles with lead single, “Mr. Know It All” debuting at #10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 and #4 on the UK Singles chart.  Follow up single, “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” went on to become Clarkson’s second #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, following her chart topping debut American Idol single, “A Moment Like This” and 2009’s “My Life Would Suck Without You.”  Over in the UK, the single was a Top 10 hit, peaking at #8 on the UK Singles Chart.
