Paloma Faith - Trouble With My Baby

Hot Video Alert: Paloma Faith – Trouble With My Baby

Paloma Faith - Trouble With My Baby

Paloma Faith released the music video and single artwork for third A Perfect Contradiction single, “Trouble With My Baby,” after promising earlier (via Twitter) that the video would be dropping at midnight UK time.  The swingin’,  throwback foot stomper was written by Faith alongside Andrea Martin and Steve Robson, who also takes credit as the song’s producer.

The Paul Gore-directed clip sees Paloma Faith playing a sultry jazz lounge singer, a familiar character previously seen in the video for the Pharrell Williams-produced “Can’t Rely On You.” She is joined in the video by the actor who played the strange, creepy cult-leader in that same video.  Paul Gore has directed all of the visuals from A Perfect Contradiction, which tells the stories of several characters (played by Faith), some of whom appear on the cover art for the album, which was inspired by Caravaggio’s painting, ‘The Entombment Of Christ.’ Check out the new video below.

Paloma Faith - A Perfect Contradiction

Last time I blogged about Paloma, there was nothing but speculation based on her Twitter and Instagram activity – working with Pharrell here, collaborating with Raphael Saadiq there, writing with Diane Warren on a freakin’ boat…well OBVIOUSLY the album is out now and I love it.  The album is, by and large, more up-tempo than her previous effort, 2012’2 Fall To Grace (read my review here) which Faith has repeatedly stated was her intention.

Despite working with a variety of producers (Pharrell, AC Burrell, Mr. Hudson, Dave Okumu), the album remains stylistically consistent throughout.  A Perfect Contradiction features one song written by Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, “Only Love Can Hurt Like This,” as well as a cover song originally performed by Sisters Love called “The Bigger You Love (The Harder You Fall).”

To date, A Perfect Contradiction has peaked at #2 on the UK Albums chart while the first two singles, “Can’t Rely On You” and “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” reached #10 and #6 respectively.  No word yet on a U.S. release for the album, but Epic Records, Faith’s U.S. label has updated their website with new photos and videos. Fingers crossed! She knows her fans across the pond are anxious to see her return.
