Laura Welsh Premieres New Single, GHOSTS; Set for UK Release January 11th

    English songbird, Laura Welsh has released the audio for her brand new, HAUNTINGLY powerful Greg Kurstin-produced single, “Ghosts,” (not to be confused with Ella Henderson‘s similarly titled Ryan Tedder-produced “Ghost“) due out January 11th on Outsiders | Polydor Records. The single is taken from Welsh’s HIGHLY anticipated debut album, Soft Control, released January 19th and was written by the “Break The Fall” singer alongside Jonathan Lipsey (Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse). To say that I’m excited about Welsh’s upcoming album would be an understatement.

    Ghosts” was produced in Los Angeles at Mr. Greg Kurstin (The Shins, Beck, Lily Allen)’s own Echo Studio. According to the Welsh;

    “Ghosts is about learning lessons from situations and overcoming them instead of being pulled under. To let go of the past and flick the switch on to the future.”

    While the song comes in soft like a lamb—all sweet and ballad-like, don’t let it fool you! By the time the chorus hits you about a minute in, “Ghosts” morphs into a real LION. The drums pick up and the song turns into an Adele-style “Rolling In The Deep” power pop anthem, calling to mind Clare Maguire and Florence + The Machine. Then quiet again. “Ghosts” is a roller coaster of a pop record, with ENDLESS remix possibilities that leaves the dance music lover in me practically salivating.
