You can ALWAYS count on NYC-based electronic duo B-Roc and JPatt (AKA The Knocks) to turn out a catchy af remix and they do it once again here, with a fresh take on rising star, Phoebe Ryan‘s latest pop smash, “Chronic.” Stream the bangin’ new remix below:
The remix takes the easy-breezy vibe of the original and kicks it up a few notches. While it doesn’t quite elevate the song into raging HOUSE ANTHEM territory, The Knocks do a fine job making “Chronic” infinitely more danceable, which works for me! With the help of amped up tempo and, of course The Knocks‘ trademark beats, Ryan’s vocals are more isolated—especially in the verses, which makes the lyrics and their “your love is like a drug” message hit harder. The remix, while still VERY MUCH pop, removes a lot of the haze from the original, transforming it into a summer-ready, sure-fire house party staple. “Chronic,” which is out now via Columbia Records (iTunes / Spotify) was co-written by 24-year old Ryan, alongside Nate Campany (Cary Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo) and Kyle Shearer ( Jepsen, Melanie Martinez).
