Last time I brought you a track from LA-based electronic singer/songwriter ELOHIM, it was back in June when I included her in one of my “Promising Pop” features (alongside other favorites, FLETCHER and Kiiara). This time, I figured I give ELOHIM her own spotlight feature because…well, because her new single “Xanax” is ADDICTIVE. Listen below:

While there’s a lot about this promising pop star that remains shrouded in mystery (including her face!) one thing that’s not hidden is how much people like her! “WHO?” you ask? Well, in addition to myself—we have The Fader, NME (“LA’s brightest new hitmaker”), The Line of Best Fit (“incendiary”), Pigeons & Planes (“luscious electro-pop production”) and Noisey (“in control”) to name just a few. What’s more, always reliable tastemaker Zane Lowe (now happily at home in LA, broadcasting daily for Beats1 radio) is fan, playing both “She Talks Too Much” and most recently, “Xanax.”

Xanax” is the hypnotic follow-up to ELOHIM‘s debut single, “She Talks Too Much,” which Crack in the Road recently touted as “one of the most impressive debut tracks of the year.” The new single features alongside the recently released “She Talks Too Much” as the supplementary track on the double A Side. “Xanax” is noticeably darker than it’s predecessor, lacking that certain funhouse-style-quirkiness we hear in the production. While “Xanax” might not have much in the way of a sense of humor, it’s no less interesting or quirky for that matter. ELOHIM‘s breathy vocal floats gently above turbulent synth flourishes and vocal effects like a misty morning fog. My recommendation would be, listen to “She Talks Too Much” and have a good laugh and when you’re ready for some deep reflecting, or even a few tears, take “Xanax” for a spin. Emotional highs and lows are normal every day part of life, and now they have a soundtrack. I can’t wait to hear what else ELOHIM has brewing!

She Talks Too Much” has already racked up an impressive 500K + streams on Spotify, not to mention being remixed by BECOME (of the EXGF collective) and Detroit duo Gosh Pith. Snag the “She Talks Too Much” / “Xanax” AA-side single here (B3SCI Records). It will be cut on limited edition 12″ black vinyl.
