14-year old Rachel Crow will release her debut, self-titled EP on June 26th via Columbia Records/Syco Music.  The EP was produced by top hit makers including Toby Gad (Beyonce, Fergie) and Jonas Jeberg (The Wanted, Pussycat Dolls) and features lead single, “Mean Girls,” an inspirational song co-written by Rachel and Toby Gad.  Sounding a bit like Fergie‘s “Big Girls Don’t Cry (Personal)“, the single has young Rachel taking a stand against bullying, showing how important it is to celebrate one’s individuality.  While I was hoping Rachel would dazzle us with something a little SPUNKIER, props to her for tackling the big issues right out the box.

However which way you cut it, Rachel Crow is a star.  As a contestant on the inaugural season of the U.S. X Factor, this precocious teenager made a strong first impression with her audition, proclaiming the FIRST thing she’d do should she win the whole thing would be to get her own bathroom.  The judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid were instantly smitten and so was the audience.  While Crow went out fifth from the competition, she remained a steady fan favorite throughout, ultimately landing her very own record deal.

While Crow’s invested in her music career at the moment, embarking on Big Time Rush‘s upcoming summer tour next month, she’s got plans to become the next Selena Gomez/Miley Cyrus/Miranda Cosgrove; signing an overall talent deal with Nickelodeon. Rachel can be seen in a recurring role on FRED: THE SHOW and will also appear on a brand new episode of Big Time Rush July 2nd.  The talented teenager also appeared on the premiere episode of the new Nick game show, Figure It Out, June 11th.

I’m still hopeful that we’ll hear Rachel’s bubbly personality come out on her new EP, although “Mean Girls” definitely shows off the fact that this girl can SING. Make sure you check out the directorial-debut of Rachel’s friend Carlos Pena, who directed and produced the music video/lyric video for her first single. The stop-motion video was made entirely on a chalkboard. Rachel’s EP will be available June 26th (iTunes US).
