Listen To This: Kiiara – Tennessee

Check out the new song from buzzy up & comer KIIARA, Tennessee, streaming on SoundCloud now.

Kiiara isn’t wasting any time, following the runaway success of her debut track, an IMMACULATE synthpop  stunner called “Gold.” Nearly 2 months after it’s release, people are still talking about this track. It’s a great feeling, knowing you are witnessing the rise of a future star and for ME, Kiiara is bound for pop music superstardom. Her latest release, “Tennessee,” is another brilliant synth-driven bop. In the same vein as “Gold,” “Tennessee” is all about biting lyrics, glitchy head-bobbing synth-hop beats (produced by “Gold” producer, Felix Snow). If people were buzzing on “Gold,” Kiiara‘s new one is certain to keep the buzz going. Oh, and NBD but she’s already got ‘Queen of the CloudsTove Lo in her corner. Always a good sign when Swedish pop royalty (too soon?) is vibing off a complete unknown, right? Check out “Tennessee” (which Kiiarachampion, Zane Lowe premiered exclusively on Beats1) below.

Let’s briefly recap Kiiara‘s whirlwind past couple of months. In June, the 20 year-old hardware store clerk from Illinois popped her sparkling Felix Snow-produced debut single “Gold” up on SoundCloud, quickly sparking interest among top bloggers and tastemakers including Earmilk, Stereogum, Idolator and others.  I wound up including “Gold” in one of my recent “Promising Pop” features (along with fellow buzzworthy up & comers, Fletcher and Elohim). Check that out here.

After amassing high-profile fans including Apple Music/Beats1 Radio DJ Zane Lowe and actress Chloë Moretz (to name a few) things started to really kick into high gear. First things first, Kiiara packed up and moved to Los Angeles, TweetingMoving to Los Angeles tomorrow, not really bringing anything…is that OK?” She’s now got over 8,000 people following her SoundCloud page, over 1,000 Twitter followers AND she created a Facebook page (FINALLY). While there’s been no word yet about a record deal, presumably she’s in the city of angels to work on her much anticipated debut (she previously announced the title of her EP, Meet Me In The Cornfield, which is expected out later this year). That being said, she hasn’t been saying much and, as of right now at least, her music is only available to stream on SoundCloud and Apple Music.  Here’s hoping all that is about to change. Kiiara is most certainly “one to watch.”
